Green Dessert.
Ah well! Cheesy, huh? I know. But that’s how it is. Talking about the remote Unitech-Rajarhat side area where my office is. Hard to decide where to start from!
12’O clock scenario.
One day,I leave office around 12noon for some important work and the first phrase that strikes me is ‘Green Dessert’. Yeah, its green – good for eyes and hell, it’s deserted. This time of the day is pathetic. Very few autos are the only public transport you can rely on and that too for short distances. Probably you will reach the very next stoppage only to find yourself waiting for some other auto or bus or whatever your fate awaits and that wait is for indefinite amount of time. Really!
The other times of the day are not much better either.
Dunno about other places, but going to Behala each day from this hellish remote place is itself a work-out. I know our city is not highly planned or the traffic problem is kind of pertinent. These are old news. But a minimal bus-route is not much to ask for, is it? A sane way to reach home, without fighting over shuttles, or getting crapped out in sadly-crowded public buses! The only option left, if you are seeking for comfort, is to spend sick amount of money and avail a cab or AC Volvo to some intermediate stop, only to find yourself waiting in long queues for auto/bus/cab again. (Well, I am ready to spend lot but then I rpobably would want a raise! ;) ) All I am asking is a fair amount of long-route buses from Unitech (which often seems like the ‘end-of-the world’) to Behala ( from where a lot and I am stressing again, a LOT of people do come to Rajarhat for work) with reasonable bus-fare and good service. I don’t know about these Govt. people, how they work and all, but isn’t it common sense to improvise the communication services in the city when you are developing some remote place and expecting people to work there? To add to surprise, distance between Behala and Unitech is approximately 25-30kms – hardly a 1-hour travel in places outside Bengal!(might be even less)
Boy! I am really wacked out from sitting idle in an almost empty office floor this late. Eager awaiting eyes counting each clock-tick.
